Panasonic DVX200 to FCP - Editing AVCHD files from Panasonic AG-DVX200 to Final Cut Pro 7/X
Below is an example on how to convert Panasonic DVX200 AVCHD to ProRes MOV, it also helps to convert PA AG-DVX200 AVCHD to other video format like MP4, WMV, AVI andetc.
Impressively, the DVX200 records up to 200Mbps in Intraframe HD. .MOV or MP4 and AVCHD are available. Panasonic recommends Class U3 memory cards for 4K and high frame rate recording and for full HD the recommendation is a minimum of Class 10 memory cards. The camera records in 4:2:0 but has the capability to output 4:2:2 10-bit via the HDMI port.
The AG-DVX200 user is seeking for a solution to importing Panasonic AG-DVX200 AVCHD files into Final Cut Pro for editing without problems. Have you also met the trouble and got frustrated? Well, don’t blame the Final Cut Pro, the “Import from Camera…” option works just like “Log and Transfer”. The thing is, even FCP X does not work with the Canon or Panasonic AVCHD codec. As far as I know, to solve those problems, the most important piece of the equation is that transcoding AVCHD files to Final Cut Pro native format (Apple ProRes encoded .mov is highly recommended). Along with some help from the MTS Converter for Mac, it can be done.
