Canon XA25 shoots exactly the same footages like XA20: Full HD 1080 60p/60i/30p/24p footages in AVCHD MTS and 1080 60p/30/24p as well as 720/360 30p/24p in MP4 format.

Well, what caused me disappointed is the Canon XA25 importing and editing issues with FCP 7, Final Cut Pro X, no matter the AVCHD or MP4 footage. There are more than more problems occurred slow rendering, program crashed, can’t recognize the camera…

Converting Canon XA25 AVCHD/MP4 to Apple ProRes MOV for Final Cut Pro 6/7/X

Step 1: Load original MTS files

Install and launch this Canon XA25 Video Converter Mac on your computer. Transfer your Canon footages to the converter.

Tip: If you want, you can merge several video clips together by ticking “Merge into one” box.



Step 2. Choose output format

Press “Format” option and navigate the mouse cursor to choose “Format > Final Cut Pro > Apple ProRes 422 (*.mov)” as the best codec for FCP 6/7 and FCP X on Mac. The Mac Video converter will transcode Canon XA25 MTS to FCP 6/7 or FCP X compatible MOV with ProRes as video codec in HD 1920×1080.
